The expression "Proved" as defined in section 3 of the Evidence Act denotes either of the two conditions - (l) when the existence of a thing is so probable that a prudent man would assume its existence under the circumstances. Thus a fact may be proved by direct evidence when the fact is attested by witness, things or documents, or it may be proved by indirect or circumstantial evidence by witness, things or documents which the law deems sufficiently proximate to the principal fact. This is not evidence direct to the point in issue but evidence of various facts other than the fact in issue which are so associated with the fact in issue that taken together they form a chain of circumstances indicating that the main fact exists.
