যদি আমরা সংবিধানের ৬৪ অনুচ্ছেদ এবং ১৯৯৬ সালের কার্যপ্রণালী বিধিমালার ১৪ বিধি একত্রে পড়ি, তাহলে প্রতীয়মান হয় যে অ্যাটর্নি জেনারেলকে সুপ্রীম কোর্টসহ যেকোনো আদালতে সরকারের দাবি রক্ষা বা উত্থাপনের দায়িত্ব দেওয়া হয়েছে।
যদি আমরা সংবিধানের ১৪৬, ৫৫(২), ৫৫(৪), ৬৪ অনুচ্ছেদ, ১৯৭২ সালের রাষ্ট্রপতি আদেশের ৬ নং অধ্যায়ের ২, ৩ এবং ৩(৫) ধারা এবং ১৯৯৬ সালের কার্যপ্রণালী বিধিমালার ১৪ বিধি পড়ি, তাহলে এটা স্পষ্ট হবে যে সরকারের নির্বাহী পদক্ষেপ রক্ষার উদ্দেশ্যে অ্যাটর্নি জেনারেল এবং অন্যান্য আইন কর্মকর্তারা, যেমন অতিরিক্ত অ্যাটর্নি জেনারেল, ডেপুটি অ্যাটর্নি জেনারেল এবং সহকারী অ্যাটর্নি জেনারেল দায়ী। অ্যাটর্নি জেনারেল উপরোক্ত আইন কর্মকর্তাদের দৈনন্দিন দায়িত্ব বণ্টনের অধিকারী।
