
Juvenile Offender
Under Paragraph 962 of the
Jail Code, a prisoner under 21 is considered as juvenile and such a prisoner
should be kept separated from the adult prisoners. Under paragraph 963 of the
Jail Code, the confinement of juvenile offenders in jail is objectionable for

JUVENILE TRIAL
Juvenile Trial
Section 2 (f) of the
Children Act, 1974 provides that a boy under the age of 16 is a child while
section 6 of the Act provides that there can be no joint trial of the child and
the adult. A child must be tried separately in the Juvenile Court which alone
is competent to take cognizance against the juvenile offend- ers Children Act,

Juvenile Trial
Under Section 66(1) of the
Children Act. 1974 a duty has been cast upon a criminal court to record a
finding in respect of the age of the accused, if it appears to him or if the accused
